Our Partners
In a majority of its current schools, Good Cents partners with parents and PTAs to organize its program. That model is not available in Oakland’s less affluent areas.
Good Cents is now bringing its program to additional under-resourced schools through two community partnerships built with the University of California Haas Business School’s Young Entrepreneurs at Haas (YEAH) and BUILD programs, providing entrepreneurship and college-preparedness programs for middle and high school students.
High school students involved in YEAH and BUILD mentor elementary school children at participating schools. Bringing college-bound high school students into under-resourced schools, not only helps to provide the program to schools where parents cannot provide logistical support, but also provides the children at those schools with academically strong and motivated high school role models. Good Cents is also actively pursuing a partnership with a local afterschool program provider.

BUILD teaches students in East Palo Alto, eastern Menlo Park and Oakland how to start and run their own businesses as a means of re-engaging them in the academic process and preparing them for college. Thus far, 100% of BUILD graduates have been accepted to college. Read more about BUILD: www.build.org
